“Inkheart” by Cornelia Funke
“Inkheart” by Cornelia Funke
general description
The lives of Meggie and her father Mo Leben seem to be completely normal, apart from a few little things. They live in a small house and Mo keeps them both afloat with his job as a book restorer. He also passed on his love of books to Meggie and sometimes they even sit next to each other at breakfast with their books in their hands.
But her well-established life is shaken up when Mo's past and his secret catch up with him. Soon both of them are in mortal danger and have to face what is probably the greatest adventure of their lives.
Our opinion
In itself, Inkheart is a book for young people, but the adventure and excitement that runs through the whole book make it just as exciting for adults.
A great story in which you always wonder what will happen next, whether another villain will appear or whether Meggie may also have a secret. The author Cornelia Funke also expresses the bond between father and daughter with a lot of emotion. A gentle storybook that is perfect for warm summer evenings. And fairy tales have always been best read aloud!
