Yes, the great days are over and Ash Wednesday is usually followed by fasting. That's not a bad way to experience pleasure again later. But anyone can give up cigarettes, chocolate and alcohol. We have a few ideas on how you can enrich Lent with new components and also practice abstinence. Try the 40 days of fasting...

...not to curse. Instead of using the usual strong expressions, you can describe awkward situations diplomatically or leave them uncommented. But cursing becomes even more fun after Lent.

… don’t buy shoes. It's difficult, but in a pinch a list of favorite models can help, which you can just as easily work through after Lent.

...to avoid Facebook. A new attitude to life could arise, you do your thing and no one knows it!

...not to sing in the shower. It could be that things will go better in the shared apartment.

…not watching TV. Alternatives would be cinema, theater, sports or a good conversation with friends. And since you're foregoing other things, you can also treat yourself to one or two after-work beers.
