Last night Apple scared the horses again. And why? Because it feels the pressure of competition and desperately wants to release new products onto the market. We watched the keynote and summarized the highlights for you.
What's new about iPads?
Yesterday the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 were introduced.
Both things have been given a fingerprint sensor . If you want - but we don't think so - you can also use the Apple Pay payment service on the tablets. Initially, the payment model will start next Monday in the USA. In combination with the fingerprint sensor, Apple Pay can be used for purchases within apps on the iPads. At least both devices have a faster chip that, among other things, allows games to be used on the iPad Air 2 without any problems.
Externally, the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 hardly differ from their predecessors. The Apple Air 2 was built 18 percent thinner . This means that the iPad Air 2 is said to be the thinnest tablet on the market. The iPad Mini is still 7.9 inches in size. Maybe it's a good choice for university if the devices are lighter and you can easily transport them every day.
The new iPad models have an improved camera , which can now also be used to take panoramic, slow-motion and time-lapse photos. With the camera on the back of the iPad Air 2 you can take pictures with up to 8 megapixels. Video recordings are now possible in Full HD. This means you hardly need a separate cam anymore. Everything in one, so to speak.
The new iPads are scheduled to go on sale at the end of next week. The price of the iPad Air 2 starts at 489 euros. The iPad Mini 3 is available from 389 euros. You can get student discounts on Apple products here .
What other news does Apple have?
The new iPads are equipped with the iOS 8.1 software. The features of the new operating system include the “Camera Roll” - the central storage location for photos and the iCloud Library. iOS 8.1 will be available in the App Store on Monday. Student discounts on the apps are also possible!
Anyone who still likes to work on desktop PCs can look forward to the new edition of the iMac . A faster processor, a high-resolution Retina 5K display, Intel i5 processor and 8 gigabytes of RAM are just some of the highlights in the new iMac. This costs at least 2599 euros and can already be purchased now.
The new iMac also needs a new version of the Mac operating system. It runs the Yosemite operating system, which was introduced in June. Content from desktop and mobile devices can be easily synced with iOS 8. OS X Yosemite is now available for free.
