How to survive the winter in isolation

Winter has always been a difficult thing. It gets dark really quickly and it's just too cold to go outside. This year it will be even rarer for us to leave our cave, when we can even attend our lectures from the couch and bars and clubs are no longer open. So that you can still make the best of it, we have a few tips for you.

#1 Bring the bar home

Yes, of course you can't do it literally, but grab your roommates or closest friends and turn your apartment into a real bar. Instead of beer, you can make your own fancy cocktails. With this cocktail shaker set it's really easy. And then you dim the lights and play music in the background and you have your own bar, with no curfew.

#2 Renovate your room

Regardless of whether you mean a complete renovation or just a new string of lights , you should feel really comfortable now that you're spending so much time indoors. Or maybe you will discover your artistic side and paint/make something for your walls yourself.

#3 Try new recipes

We all have to admit it, everyone has their standard recipes that may have ended up on the plate once or twice too many. Now you have the time to really try out something new, your roommates will certainly be happy about it too ;) You can look here for your first inspiration.

#4 Read something again

It's becoming increasingly rare that you get the idea to start a new book on your own. But once you start, you usually can't put the book down. We even have a few book tips for you that will accompany you through the gray days.

#5 Don’t forget the culture

Going to the cinema and museums is also becoming increasingly difficult and the Netflix originals are not particularly demanding either. So that you don't get culturally dusty, you can watch a classic again. With the Sky Ticket you have access to classics such as “The Condemned” with Morgan Freeman or the tragicomedy “Life is Beautiful” by Roberto Benigni.

#6 Learn something new!

It could be something useful or something completely useless. Such as knitting, a new instrument, a language or Qi Gong.

#7 Sew your old clothes

Everyone has at least a few items in their closet that they never wear and yet don't throw away. To prevent them from rotting there for a few more years, you can upcycle them. There are an incredible number of videos on the internet on how to sew a shirt into a dress and much more.

#8 Make a 1000 piece puzzle

Puzzles are totally underrated. It's a great way to switch off your head and let time pass quickly. You can also listen to an audio book and drink a coffee and you'll have the perfect day indoors. With Audible you even get one for free during the trial month. If you can't decide which one, we have a few tips for you.

#9 Puzzles

Sudoku, word searches, crossword puzzles,... A collection of puzzles from the kiosk is more fun than you think. And your brain cells will thank you.

#10 Update your Spotify

Music makes life more beautiful. Listen to a new genre or new artists. Maybe you'll discover something for yourself.

#11 Find out about world events

There is so much happening in the world every day that you often lose track. So that you don't waste all your time unnecessarily, you can choose one topic per day to find out more about.
