Yes, studying can be pretty hard and tiring - but let's be honest: you will never have as much time for partying and then sleeping in as you did when you were studying. You could even say that partying is actually part of studying, although of course you shouldn't go to the slopes every day, give it your all and neglect your studies. But even hermit-like nerds and party-poopers who watch series for hours should get a dance now and then. We'll tell you three good reasons for this.
1. You meet new people
Especially as a first-semester student, you should check the party offerings in your university town and include themed parties, faculty celebrations, etc. So you get to know a few fellow students, who then know other people, who then know other people, and so on and so forth. You'll soon have a large circle of friends and won't have to struggle through your studies as a lone wolf. Networking is more important than ever these days and what better way to get to know people than over a drink together? Once you've made a few friends, the obligatory shared apartment parties are coming up - that means you don't always have to go to the clubs and spend a lot of money to be able to party.
2. Your mind can switch off
Learning, seminar, learning, exam, learning, homework – studying is full of tasks that you have to manage more or less alone. There are also annoying things like part-time jobs, internships, own household, shopping, etc. Just thinking about it makes your head spin! It's high time to switch off and give your mind a break. Of course, you can also hang out in front of the TV, but that's not nearly as fun as dancing, flirting a little and enjoying a good drink. Go home when the sun comes up, sleep through the next day and on Monday you'll be full of energy for your studies again!
3. Once you turn 30, the partying is over
Admittedly, that sounds a bit dramatic, but a British study has shown that after the age of 31, interest in partying decreases significantly. Clubs and dance floors are being swapped for the television or cozy film or cooking evenings with friends. Why is that? Well, as you get older you can't handle the hangover so well the next day, the regeneration phase takes longer. Plus, with all the young people around you, you feel even older than you actually are. So work hard, play hard during your studies, then you won't have anything to regret later and you can sit down in front of the TV with a clear conscience.
Do you need even more convincing arguments? How about:
- A friend of yours works behind the bar - a party must for you
- You've ended up on the guest list - in this case, making a fool of yourself doesn't apply
- You've already promised friends - a promise is a promise
