Where do you live?
We both originally come from East Frisia, but are both currently studying in different cities. Lisa is studying in Konstanz and I (Svea) am studying in Marburg.
How old are you?
Lisa is 23 years old and I (Svea) am 22 years old.
What do you study?
Lisa is studying German literature and history and I (Svea) am studying German language and literature.
Does your blog have anything to do with your studies?
First and foremost, we see our blog as a balance to our studies. We also read books during our studies - of course - but in a completely different way, which means that we don't have to meet any academic standards with our blog, but simply write for ourselves.
Why do you blog about literature?
We started this book blog because we both love books and reading and everything related to it; and we would like to share that with each other here.
What are your favorite writers and why?
It is difficult to decide on a writer because we do not primarily choose our books based on the authors and we deal with the works of many different writers. To name a small selection of authors that we like: John Green, Jane Austen, Suzanne Collins and David Nicholls.
How do you choose the books you review?
As already mentioned, we don't necessarily choose our books primarily based on the authors, but rather based on which cover catches our eye, which blurb is interesting or which book is simply floating around at the moment. We often browse other book blogs and websites such as Lovelybooks or Goodreads and come across interesting books. Sometimes we also discuss review copies, but we select these based on our personal preferences and do not decide based on bestseller lists.
How long has your blog been around?
We founded our blog on February 14, 2012.
Why did you start blogging?
We started blogging because we live in different cities and wanted to create a platform for us to share books we were reading (like we used to when we lived in the same city). We didn't initially expect a larger audience. We now find it all the nicer to be able to talk to several people about books, reading and film adaptations.
How much time does blogging take?
That depends on what we're doing at the moment. We create posts that appear on our blog at regular intervals. We post pictures quite often. Text posts like the Monday question once a week. Our reviews appear rather irregularly because they also take a lot of time. In general you can say that we post something every other day.
Do you think that your blog will help you advance your career?
We still see blogging as a hobby and as a balance to our studies, so we can't imagine it at the moment.
Do you think you will continue blogging after you graduate?
We can both imagine it well.
