Would you like a gangsta story to break away from your routine student life? We're giving away two fan packages for STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON - available on DVD/BD this week!
Yo maaan, what's going on in the film?
Compton, located on the outskirts of LA, was one of the most dangerous cities in the USA in the mid-1989s. The gang capital with the highest crime rate in the country shapes five young men. They begin to process their bitter experiences in radically honest music. In their texts they rebel against the brutal everyday life, police arbitrariness and their seemingly hopeless situation. With the album Straight Outta Compton, NWA (Niggaz Wit Attitudes) give an oppressed generation an explosive voice and a new sound that continues to shake up the country and the entire music industry to this day.
The film “Straight Outta Compton” tells the controversial story of the meteoric rise of the “World’s Most Dangerous Group.” While Dr. Dre is known in the area as a genius on the turntables and Ice Cube is making a name for himself as an outstanding lyricist, but it is the petty criminal Eazy-E who, with ambition, street credibility and questionable starting capital, actually gives the starting signal for NWA. The music manager Jerry Heller (Paul Giamatti) recognizes the gigantic potential early on and takes the boys under his wing. When Straight Outta Compton stormed the charts, the first arguments began over how to divide up the millions earned. Shortly after their rise, the three rappers' friendship turns into fierce competition.
