Where do you live?

Jena

How old are you?

24

What do you study?

Master “Literature, Art, Culture”

Does your blog have anything to do with your studies?

In any case. I have been studying literature since 2008. However, my enthusiasm for the written word does not end when I graduate from university. Writing for a blog in a very casual way is very different from the academic writing that is required at university. In a certain way, my blog also represents a creative balance to the more theoretical and sober everyday scientific life.

Why do you blog about literature?

For the love of literature. I enjoy writing about books and giving my readers one or two reading tips. I also try to spread my enthusiasm to blog readers who have nothing to do with literary studies. For me, there is nothing nicer than when a book recommendation resonates with my readers and they then pick up the recommended book themselves shortly afterwards.

What are your favorite writers and why?

My favorite writers include Truman Capote, Sylvia Plath, Raymond Carver, Oscar Wilde, Max Frisch, Anton Chekhov and many others. Her works impress me both linguistically and thematically, so I enjoy picking them up again and again.

How do you choose the books you review?

Rather coincidental. I often browse through my favorite bookstore. Depending on what I come across there, I'll blog about it. However, sometimes I find out about a book worth reading from friends, family and other bloggers and then write about my own reading impressions.

How long has your blog been around?

My culture blog has been around since September 2011. Before that, I had several other blogs, including one about my student life in Marburg. I started my first blog at the age of 16.

Why did you start blogging?

For the fun of writing. I've been writing since I was in school and saw blogging as a good way to reach an interested audience. Because of course writing is most fun when you feel like you enjoy being read. Even though I study literature, leisure reading is often neglected, so in my blog I write about books that I didn't read for university, but out of private interest.

How much time does blogging take?

I try to blog about once a week, which of course doesn't always work due to the lack of sources of inspiration. A blog project is an undertaking that requires a lot of perseverance and attention - but I'm happy to invest this time.

Do you think that your blog will help you advance your career?

I do think that regular blogging is a great way to train your writing skills. Especially since my career is currently leaning towards cultural journalism, I could imagine that my many years of blogging experience could open one or two doors for me.

Do you think you will continue blogging after you graduate?

In any case. Once a blogger, always a blogger! Summer thieves
