There are no days like snow days! What was considered a small provincial festival in a sleepy town in the Southern Alps a few years ago has now turned into one of the university sports events in winter . We're talking about the Snowdays , which are organized every year by students from the University of Bozen in South Tyrol, Italy. Boz...What? Bozen, or Bolzano in Italian, is the largest city in South Tyrol, the northernmost province of Italy, with just over 100,000 inhabitants.
We'll save the difficult history of this area for the next article and just say briefly and succinctly: Formerly Austria, now Italy, this mountainous piece of earth is officially bilingual - that means you can hear both German and Italian in the alleys of the picturesque town town. Surrounded by impressive mountain landscapes, people are born here with skis and snowboards.
The city's relatively new university is even officially trilingual - English, German and Italian. Multi-culturalism is therefore inevitable and so the students of the university, most of whom are South Tyroleans, Italians or Germans, initiated a top-class university sports event to which the whole of Europe is cordially invited - The Snowdays of the University of Bozen.
Party, sport, la dolce vita - there are no days like snow days! University sport in a class of its own!
There are no cocktails on the beach at Snowdays - the name suggests that. You get 3 days of party, sport, scenery and fun! During the day you take buses to the mountains, where lots of fun and winter sports await you. From night tobogganing, volleyball in the snow to snowboarding or skiing challenges, no wish is left unfulfilled. In addition, there is always a lot of entertainment and other surprises in between. Anyone who thinks that they will fall into bed dead in the evening is seriously mistaken. Because as soon as night falls over Bolzano, there is a celebration. 3 days - 3 parties: With a theme, in the mountains or in "Downtown Bozalona" (as the town is affectionately known in professional circles) you can rock whatever the South Tyrol bacon can hold! A ticket for the Snowdays costs €95 per person. Unfortunately you're a little late for 2015 because the event is sold out except for all remaining stock. Therefore, you should definitely make a note of this university sports event for 2016! What is included in the price:
