Reisebericht unseres Sony-Gewinners

New Year's Eve in New York: Travel report from our Sony winner

New Year's Eve in New York, can it get any better? Sergey was the lucky winner of our Sony competition and talks about his eventful week in the Big Apple. Of course we don’t want to withhold the travel report and photos from you.

Before we start the travel report, we would like to briefly introduce you to the lucky winner:

First name: Sergey

Age: 25 years

Current place of residence: Munich

Study program: Master's program: Print Media, Technology and Management; Munich University of Applied Sciences

Hobbies: Anything related to electronics and books. I am always up to date with the latest technical advances in the media industry.

Have you ever been to New York ? No never. That's why I'm particularly looking forward to visiting the USA for the first time.

Things you really want to do in NY? Oh, I don't know that yet. I still can't believe that I actually won the trip. But I definitely want to visit the Statue of Liberty.

Are you taking a Sony product to NY? If so, which? Definitely my Sony Tablet S, I always have it with me. Also my Sony reader, for the long flight. My old digicam isn't from Sony, but maybe I'll get a Sony video camera just for the trip. I've always wanted one of these, maybe this time I'll be able to find the money to capture the beautiful moments in New York. And at allmaxx I can even save money when I buy something.

How did you find out about our competition? I visit the allmaxx website quite often to keep up to date. And since I'm a huge Sony fan, I definitely had to take part in this competition. And this time I had the necessary (big) bit of luck!

Day 2, December 29, 2012

After a long flight and our arrival at the beautiful 4-star hotel, we wanted to go straight to the center of Manhattan, to Times Square.
Thanks to the many skyscrapers, colorful billboards and large crowds, we were immediately immersed in the loud New York life. Due to a heavy snowfall, my girlfriend and I were able to experience a true winter dream. A walk to Grand Central Terminal, the largest train station in the world, and the skyscraper Chrysler Building was very beautiful and unforgettable. The architecture of New York had an almost magical effect due to the snow and the evening lighting. A shopping tour at Bloomingdale's department store was also on our program. Thanks to the winter sale we were able to get one or two bargains.

Day 6, January 2, 2013

After spending New Year's Eve on the Brooklyn waterfront and enjoying the New York skyline and the beautiful fireworks over the Statue of Liberty, another highlight of our trip awaited us on January 2nd. We got two tickets for the hotly anticipated first Broadway performance of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” in 2013. The new production of what is probably the most famous American play with Scarlett Johansson and Ciarán Hinds in the leading roles is currently one of the most interesting plays in the Times Square theater district.

The actors' excellent acting, snappy dialogues and good seats in the theater gave my girlfriend and me an unforgettable evening at the theater. Of course, a walk through New York at night after the performance was a must.

Day 7, January 3, 2013

On the last day of our trip, a visit to the New York Historical Society was on the agenda. This American organization is committed to presenting and studying the history of the largest city in the United States.
After the screening of a very interesting and technically very complex film about the development of the city of New York, we had the opportunity to take a tour of the many halls of the museum. In particular, the works of the Hudson River School, a group of American landscape painters, including Frederic E. Church, were shown and explained in detail. We also remembered countless artifacts and works of art that tell the history of the USA and New York. Many German painters are also represented in the extensive collection.

Unfortunately the trip came to an end that day. After seven beautiful days in New York, we saw a lot and experienced many wonderful moments. Our thanks go to Sony and allmaxx for organizing the competition and the very pleasant trip!
