We asked you what your best festival experience was. Here are your answers:
“The most beautiful festival moments can rarely be described in words. But what makes these moments special are good friends, an unbreakable & weatherproof mood, a cold or warm beer and tons of confetti. Then suddenly in the evening after a thunderstorm at Major Lazer you find yourself ankle-deep in water at the front of the breakwater and still celebrate your life like there is no tomorrow." -Romina B.
The lucky winner of our competition was able to celebrate at Lollapalooza in Berlin this year. As a thank you she sent us a picture:
“My funniest festival experience was last year at the Deichbrand Festival. My girlfriend and I took a walk around the campsite at night and came across a drunk, staggering banana and someone in a banana costume, respectively. We can't stop laughing. But my best festival experience this year was at the Kosmonaut Festival. The weather was beautiful and my best friend Nele and I first went swimming in the lake, which was right next to the festival site, and then we danced in the sun right in front of the stage to Drangsal, one of our favorite musicians at the moment." - Lotta K.
"My funniest experience: When I met my history professor at SonneMondUnd Sternen... She was no longer Mrs. Dr. but Gabi. ;)" - Daria L.
“My funniest festival experience was in Warsaw when the Red Hot Chili Peppers played. Three men lined up around me so that I could pee in the crowd and not miss anything.” - Adranne B.
“My best festival experience was when I was at Melt for the first time and was able to admire the impressive backdrop of the excavators. Enjoying the sunrise at the Beach Stage in the morning to the sounds of Modeselektor was unique.” - Kay P.
“As is often the case, the campsite was in a field and heavy rain began during the night. The next day, as I tried to fight my way to the toilet, some people came towards me barefoot. When I got to the toilets, I realized why that was the case. There were around 20 to 30 people standing up to their calves in mud looking for their shoes. Luckily I only lost a few flip-flops at this festival, but I will probably never forget the morning sight of people searching through the mud in front of the toilets. ;)" - Peter M.
“I had the absolute best festival experience at the Eristoff Urban Arts Festival in Wiesen Austria in 2010. The well-planned trip got off to a sub-optimal start on Friday afternoon. My friend Wastl from Dortmund and my plane from Hanover landed at Vienna airport almost at the same time - unfortunately my second piece of luggage, which had a tent and sleeping bag inside, was missing. Luckily, I reached a friend in Vienna who offered to stay with her and even pick us up at 3 a.m. after her shift at the hospital. After the big airport drama, we were able to relax in the booked shuttle taxi 2 'Fusspils'. At the festival site we were able to convince the equipment manager of the local football club and also the festival's 'hobby camping supervisor' to lock up our carry-on suitcases. Well, we then partied hard and watched various hot electro and commercial acts at the gigantic festival with lots of beer... So around 2.30 a.m. we picked up our trolleys and trotted down the street past the stages to the car parking lot. . at that moment... 4 or 5 Finns rushed at us... and kept saying 'this is david guetta' to my buddy... They thought I was a sound engineer with the record case and we had to take countless photos and even sign autographs. More and more people came and Wastl and I soon spoke to various people in all languages. When my friend drove up in her car, we were helped to load our suitcases and various 'fans' followed us to the exit and banged on the roof of the car... crazy... literally. By the way, my friend's name on Facebook has been David Sebastian Wastlguetta since then and he has one of David as his profile photo, which looks totally like him. - Thomy Q.
“My funniest festival experience: secretly emptying the neighbor’s Nutella jar alone at night.” - Alexandra D.
“This year I was at the Fusion in Lärz for the first time and anyone who knows this festival also knows how colorful, free and wild it is. And that's exactly the feeling I'm trying to describe to you. Imagine dusk sets in and almost every possible color of light swirls around your head in colorful figures. My head itself is decorated with different symbols and colors, my favorite people are gathered around me, laughing and the anticipation increases. Then a bang 'Bam!' above all our heads, the official rocket launch, fire-breathing dragons and then Stephan Bodzin's bass starts. Detached from all reality, I dance with my eyes closed. An amazing moment. A flight of emotions.” - Joyce N.
“My best festival experience was Rock am Ring 2015. Our tent was leaking and when it started to rain and our tent resembled a paddling pool, our incredibly nice tent neighbors asked us to stay in their tent.” - Sophie B.
“My most unforgettable festival experience: My friends and I were playing with a ball at Energy in the Park when it rolled away and remained at the feet of my now boyfriend - our first encounter.” - Laura D.
“My funniest and most unforgettable festival experience so far happened in Wacken 2011. I was there with two friends and at some point we drank a little too much and completely lost touch with each other. After 2 hours I found the first one again because I heard familiar noises coming from a ditch and saw that he was lying in there. I called the other one, he pushed me away to call his girlfriend (who was at home 500 km away and didn't want to know anything about him in the dead of night) to ask where I was, after that they were able to agree where he was he just said he was standing by an ice cream truck. There were quite a few of them and you had to go through them all one after the other until you saw a completely naked person running wildly around as if stung by a bee, with his clothes under his arm. In the end we found each other and the whole story was told to us by our camp neighbors the following day and is still one of the nights that we will never forget." - Jakob M.
“My funniest or strangest festival experience was when a pink elephant (or a person in the costume) made me bungee jump with him at Open Flair. Unforgettable moment. - Annika
“My most fun festival experience so far was at Hurricane this year, also affectionately known as the 'Mud Festival 2016'. I sank so deep in the mud that I lost a shoe. Since I didn't have any spare sneakers with me, I hopped home with only one shoe on the journey home from Lower Saxony to Berlin." - Jassi G.
