By the way, the start-up was founded by students. If you also want to become self-employed, read the success story:
Student job: Managing Director
All students have to deal with the same problems at the end of the month: the rent is due, the fridge is completely empty and the last party completely broke the bank account. In order to finance their lifestyle, most students often go to work after lectures and seminars. But in addition to learning and celebrating, very few people can imagine running an entire company. At the young Berlin online startup deinphone.de, an entire company is in the hands of students.
Financing, rapid growth, time management
It is clear that a company in which only students work has to expect obstacles. The first question that naturally arises is: “How do I best finance my idea?” The market is littered with start-ups with innovative concepts that are fighting for generous financiers - the chances of getting a loan from a bank as a student are slim. The founders often have to dig into their own pockets for their start-up capital and are intimidated by this. It takes a lot of ambition and courage to start a company with your own financial resources.
Once this hurdle has been overcome, positions in the various areas that are important to the company must be filled. Many years of work experience would of course be an advantage. There is no need to mention that a student cannot necessarily serve in this way. Errors creep in that can slow down the work process. But everyone starts small and, as we all know, we learn from mistakes. As a rule, the first group of colleagues is recruited from your own circle of fellow students and acquaintances, which can of course make the working atmosphere extremely positive. This often results in very flat hierarchy structures. The workplace becomes a meeting place for friends and acquaintances. But what comes across as so pleasantly sonorous can also become a disadvantage.
But once a company has established itself on the market, it is important to keep an overview. If the store is doing well, rapid growth is inevitable. New jobs have to be created, suitable premises have to be found and of course new employees have to be hired. Flexibility is also expected from students. Often you have to take on tasks from other areas or use your own laptop to work.
In order to cope with the daily increasing workload, a young company not only needs employees, but above all good time management. Due to the double burden of studying and work, it is difficult for students to concentrate completely on the company. Understandable, because homework has to be written on the side and the next phase of exams is coming sooner than you would like. If you are aiming for a good degree, you should only put the company in second place.
Degree: Own company
Despite the risks and possible loss of their own money, more and more students are taking on the challenge of starting a business. Being able to gain professional experience and be your own boss while studying is exciting. But the risks should never be overlooked. If you are prepared to invest a lot of time in an idea and are not put off by the business field, then at the end of your studies you will not only have a degree, but also your own company.
