Berlin rocks!
“Music is hot, neon lights are shining, someone paid me a gin.” When Ideal sang their Berlin anthem in 1980, everything looked different: gray shell, hot core. The city was particularly popular when it came to music. David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Iggy Pop – all of them wrote songs and music history here with the Wall in mind.
Today Berlin is bigger, louder and better known than ever. And when it comes to music, it's now so popular that the entire scene meets once a year for Berlin Music Week. An event that brings together makers of festivals, clubs, musicians and fans. From September 4th to 8th it's that time again: During the week there are trade fairs, conferences and exciting events such as the Berlin Music Award, there are numerous club concerts and gigs from independent to German pop or hip hop parties. The absolute highlight is the Berlin Festival on September 6th and 7th at the former Tempelhof Airport, where Björk, Blur, the Pet Shop Boys, Mia, Fritz Kalkbrenner and My Bloody Valentine will be on stage, among others.
Fancy Berlin? The complete program and tickets are available on the official website and the entire line up for the Berlin Festival can be found here .
We have a tip for students who are traveling to Berlin specifically for the event: With the Bahncard 50 it's really cheap, environmentally friendly and you don't get stuck in traffic to be in front of the stages on time to see your favorite bands!
The allmaxx team wishes you a lot of fun!
