While browsing Amazon, I recently discovered, albeit a little late, that you can register as an Amazon Student for free for twelve months and enjoy Prime for free - including streaming via Prime Video. Of course, this makes the serial-addicted, financially poorly positioned student's heart beat faster. But does the service keep what it promises?
The answer is: yes! I signed up and can now enjoy free premium shipping for a year, over two million songs, unlimited storage and, of course, best of all, unlimited film and series streaming. Once the year is over, students can extend their Prime membership and only have to pay €34 instead of €69 per year . Even the poorest student can get this!
Films and series as far as the eye can see
You may have noticed that what excites me the most is Prime Video's diverse offering - although I have to admit that super-fast premium shipping is a close second. There are numerous films and series that you can stream for free via Prime: So-called Amazon Originals series, which were produced by Amazon itself, as well as formats purchased externally. The former include, for example , The Man in the High Castle , Good Girls Revolt and Fleabag .
You can also watch top series like Mr. Robot , The Night Manager or Shameless .
Of course, film freaks won't be left behind on Amazon Prime Video: There's a colorful mix of old and new films that you can watch for free. The Nice Guys , Ex Machina and Spotlight are currently on offer, among others.
In addition to the free offers, you also have the option to buy or rent films and series. For example, you can rent the comedy Bad Moms , last year's comic highlight, Suicide Squad , or the stylish action film Nerve for €4.99 or buy it for €13.99 or €14.99.
Series such as the latest HBO production Westworld or the latest seasons of Homeland or Sherlock in the original sound have a purchase price of €2.99 or €5.99 (Sherlock) per episode and between €13.99 and €31.99 per episode Squadron.

You should read these three great novels before the film starts
Amazon isn't just my favorite when it comes to streaming - I also check books almost exclusively through the online retailer. I'm quite a film nerd myself. I usually know what new productions are coming out months in advance and I eagerly collect information about everything that interests me. Thanks to my additional qualification as a bookworm, I rarely miss a novel so that I can compare the book and the film afterwards. Anyone who says “I feel the same way!” might be happy about my top three books that you should check out when upcoming films are released.
1. The Circle by Dave Eggers
Mae Holland starts work in the hippest company in the world, which has created a single Internet identity - everything is transparent, anonymity no longer exists. Mae is thrilled until she meets a mysterious colleague and everything changes. Emma Watson and Tom Hanks star in this film, which promises a high level of excitement.
2. Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterley
In 1943, NASA hired African-American women for the first time to use their scientific skills to advance the research program. The brilliant women struggle with discrimination and prejudice, but they don't let it get them down and play a key role in the success of the Apollo missions. The film is a hot Oscar candidate and features, among other things, leading actress Taraji P. Henson.
3. When you die, your whole life passes you by, they say by Lauren Oliver
Samantha Kingston is in the middle of her young life when she suddenly dies in a car accident. But in the morning of the same day she wakes up again and seven times. She relives these hours over and over again and gradually realizes that it's not about saving her life. A clever, touching story starring Zoey Deutch as the protagonist.
