After staying in Singapore for 4 months, it already feels like a little piece of home. Just like at home, I have my favorite hotspots and restaurants here. I have listed ten of the most worth seeing locations and 'places-to-be' for you:
Tip #1 for Singapore
Lau Pa Sat
A very well known and extremely popular food court in the financial district of Singapore. Here you can get an incredible selection of food at affordable prices. From “local food”, to Thai, Turkish, South American and Indian. What your heart desires.
Tip #2 for Singapore
Open door policy
A small restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. The dishes here are a little more expensive, but they are delicious and beautifully prepared. Another plus point: there is an affordable yet good selection of wines. Inexpensive wine is difficult to find in Singapore.
Tip #3 for Singapore
Amber Restaurant
An Indian restaurant with the best butter chicken I have ever eaten. The restaurant is located in the middle of Little India and is therefore very authentic, but also quite simple.
Tip #4 for Singapore
Boat Quay
One of the hotspots for tourists. Located right on the water, one restaurant follows the next. The atmosphere is relaxed and you have a view of the Marina Bay Sands (MBS). So if you want to go out for something to eat or drink in the evening, you can also watch the famous MBS laser show.
Tip #5 for Singapore
Clarke Quay
Here you have an amazing selection of bars, cafes, restaurants and attractions such as 'reverse bungy jumping' or just live music. There are also some clubs located here. There's a lot going on here, especially in the evening. You should definitely visit this place if you are in Singapore.
Tip #6 for Singapore
Tanjong Beach Club
The best activity for a lazy Sunday: enjoying the sun on the beach or pool, accompanied by chill-out lounge music and cool drinks. They are a bit expensive here, but the location is simply worth it.
Tip #7 for Singapore
1-Altitude
The highest roof-top bar in Singapore with a spectacular view of Singapore and of course the Marina Bay Sands, which by the way has “only” 54 floors. Entry costs SGD 30 including a drink. In comparison: a beer costs 15 SGD.
Tip #8 for Singapore
Haji Lane and Arab Street
Both streets belong to the Muslim part of Singapore. It has a special charm here, especially in the evenings. The streets are full of people, it smells of shisha tobacco and oriental and jazz music can be heard everywhere. For a cozy evening with friends, simply perfect.
Tip #9 for Singapore
Jumbo Seafood Restaurant
Unfortunately, I still managed to eat in this restaurant to this day. When people ask where to get the best “chilli crab” in Singapore, this is the address most often mentioned. So I will definitely give it a try before I leave Singapore.
Tip #10 for Singapore
Kinky
The “Kinki” is a bar/restaurant with a great view of the Marina Bay Sands. Very tasty sushi is offered. The portions are a bit small and the price is relatively high, but the atmosphere there is really worth it. You are also in the middle of the city and can then reach all the clubs on foot.
Singapore itself is so diverse! No matter whether it's about the people, food or the different districts. And that's exactly what fascinates me. I'm already feeling sentimental today when I think about the fact that in a few weeks I'll be sitting in snowy Germany again. But my path will lead back here one day! Certainly!
