Something about cars

Germany has long been known for its cars and to ensure that it stays that way, the industry is constantly looking for qualified young people. As far as future opportunities are concerned, the career choice “something with cars” definitely has potential. That's why there have been special career fairs for the automotive industry for some time now. One of the most important is certainly job and career at IAA Commercial Vehicles , which will take place from September 25th to October 2nd, 2014 in Hall 23 of the IAA in Hanover.

“The automotive industry is one of the most exciting sectors in the world and offers highly motivated young engineers, economists, developers, designers, business people and human resources managers promising long-term development opportunities,” reveals Matthias Wissmann, President of the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). The career opportunities are diverse and are not limited to a few courses. Especially if the automotive industry is to become greener in the next few years, as is the declared goal of German politics, new, exciting job opportunities will open up in this area.

Manufacturers and suppliers are therefore already looking for suitable specialist personnel and will certainly continue to be so for several years to come. The level of employment in the industry has been rising continuously since 2004, not only at automobile manufacturers but also at supplier companies. A car is a highly complex product with up to 12,000 individual parts, which are often manufactured by specialized suppliers, so doing “what with cars” can also mean working for a supplier company.

By the time a finished car or commercial vehicle rolls off the assembly line, it has already gone through various production stages: windshield wipers, handlebars, indicators, etc. have been specially designed, produced, technically coordinated and assembled into a large whole. There is a lot of logistics, sales and financing behind it, i.e. potential jobs for logisticians, salespeople and merchants. In addition, the countless individual parts were not created from nothing but from raw materials that were previously manufactured, mined and made usable and so these manufacturers somehow also count towards the career aspiration “What with cars”.

Many employers from the automotive industry will introduce themselves to potential employees and applicants at job and career at IAA Commercial Vehicles from September 25th to October 2nd. Who exactly we will be there and all other important information about the career area at this year's IAA can be found here . There are many more tips on the topic of “applying to trade fairs” in the job and career blog .
