Meet Louisa
Louisa now works as a specialist in sales forecasting and sales planning. In 2019, after studying business administration, she completed a trainee program in controlling at Kaufland and tells us about the experiences she had with the trainee program at the food retailer.
allmaxx: Why did you choose the trainee program at Kaufland?
Louisa: I was impressed by the structure of the trainee program. I like that within a year you not only get to know your target area, but also many other areas and interfaces. To understand trading, you have to know the core business. I worked in sales for three months and gained valuable experience there. I was also very impressed by the stay in one of our eight national companies.
Following the trainee program, the trainees are taken on a responsible specialist or management position. After my final interview at the end of my probationary period, it quickly became clear that I would be joining purchasing controlling. I liked it there best, so it was a great fit.
allmaxx: How did you find your support during your trainee program?
Louisa: In my department, my contacts always took time to answer my questions. I could also approach other colleagues at any time. I was looked after really well and had regular feedback sessions.
There are also general supervisors for all trainees who coordinate appointments and regular network meetings or seminars with other trainees from the same and other areas. We also meet at regular get-togethers that we organize ourselves. This means that we trainees are always in contact and a small network of our own is formed.
allmaxx: What was the most exciting thing you learned about Kaufland during your traineeship?
Louisa: How complex the company is! Previously, I couldn't imagine what goes into getting a product to the right place at the right time, in the right quantity, and how many people in different departments work together to ensure the supply of goods on a daily basis. During my traineeship I was able to work in a lot of areas and got to know the processes and connections. It's unbelievable how much effort goes into it and how many adjustments and processes run in the background.
