Press release from the Mainz University of Applied Sciences
New series of events organized by the city, university of applied sciences and university
“Careers in the region – students meet companies // Media work area”
Starts on October 30, 2013 at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences
A new joint series of events by the city of Mainz (economic development), the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz and the Mainz University of Applied Sciences is starting. The aim of the event series “Careers in the Region – Students Meet Companies”, explains Head of Economic Affairs Christopher Sitte, is to create a platform on which companies can present themselves and contact is established between students and regional medium-sized companies.
Sitte: “The science city of Mainz with more than 40,000 students is an excellent business location. The large number of students will be an absolute advantage as a location, especially in the future when there will be a cross-industry shortage of skilled workers. That’s why we’re already starting to bring students and medium-sized businesses together.”
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Mechthild Dreyer (Vice President of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz): “The state capital Mainz and the Rheinhessen region offer students and graduates a wide range of career opportunities, which we would like to draw attention to with the new series of events. Direct communication, short decision-making processes and close social relationships between companies and their employees make small and medium-sized companies attractive employers.”
Prof. Dr. Andrea Beyer (Vice President of Mainz University of Applied Sciences): “Small and medium-sized companies in particular are a crucial economic factor. We want our students to get to know our regional companies and establish personal, future-oriented contacts with one another.”
In the future, Careers in the Region will take place twice a year with changing topics at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
On October 30, 2013, the opening event in the auditorium of the Mainz University of Applied Sciences, Campus location from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. will focus on the field of media. The following companies will present themselves briefly and will be available for discussions afterwards:
– Authors’ Combine
– Best case scenario
– Conteam Group
– IPSways
– Kemweb
– NIDAG
– ORGASOFT
Next year's event in the series, which is scheduled for May 21, 2014, will focus on the professional field of communication.
