University City of Munich

University City of Munich

Studying in Munich is fun - there is always something going on, the city is fantastic, and the universities all have an excellent reputation. In other words: There is virtually nothing that would speak against the University of Munich. But Munich is a real dream, not just from the point of view of the troubled student, but in general. Why? Read for yourself!

University of Munich: A Boar student dream!

Munich as a university city is a true dream for both “local” and “extended” Munich residents. Countless bars, cafés and small, individual boutiques are spread around the LMU university district, which is not only very close to the city center but also has its own charm, so that the Munich student doesn't have to miss anything. During two blocks of university, on a lecture-free afternoon or after the tiresome walk to university, it's a lot of fun to go out for ice cream or pizza with your fellow students or to stroll around the shops a bit. In any case, there's always something going on here - no wonder, given the amount of students who stroll along Türkenstrasse, Schellingstrasse and Amalienstrasse, day in and day out. This is what makes studying in Munich really fun: the colorful mix of lectures, seminars and fun makes the city something very special. And if - for whatever unimaginable reason - the university district isn't enough, you can simply take the train one stop or walk ten minutes and find yourself right in the core of the old town, Odeonsplatz. From here you can stroll through the shopping streets straight to Marienplatz - a university couldn't be more beautiful!

Studying in Munich: This is what it feels like

The universities in Munich have an excellent reputation. Both the TU Munich and the Ludwigs-Maximilians-Universität are elite universities and are characterized by high ranks in various rankings from national to international. If you are accepted here or enroll in one of the open-admission courses, you can't do anything wrong when it comes to teaching - as long as the chosen field of study suits you. The professors and lecturers are excellently trained, the rooms are diverse and the range of language courses, lectures and seminars is enormous. For example, you can take free adult education courses that expand your knowledge beyond the prescribed curriculum. Russian, Arabic, even Chinese, for example, pose no problems at all, give you the opportunity to express yourself in a wide variety of language areas and decorate your CV with a few little things that not everyone has to show. As already mentioned, the main building of the LMU is characterized by an excellent location. Several faculties scattered throughout the city complete the university's diverse offering. Whether it's medicine, law, business administration, humanities or teaching, there is hardly anything you can't study at LMU. Are you interested in mechanical engineering, mathematics or computer science? Then you are in good hands at the TU Munich. The university is located both in the city center and, more remotely, in Garching - but the latter is a campus university with great architecture and an even better reputation. Studying in Munich is a joy!

Living in Munich: A tiresome but always present topic

What, Munich? There must have been a lot of money there... you'll hear such and similar statements thrown at you more often (paired with raised eyebrows). And unfortunately there is some truth to it, because: The tiresome topic of “living in Munich” is still present. The prices are high, the places are limited, the few affordable apartments are either located outside or are snapped up in no time - usually within the family, or because someone knows someone who knows someone... well. But don't worry: there's something great called a student dormitory. It's not exactly cheap compared to other cities, but it's significantly cheaper than the normal apartments, and it's usually in an excellent location and full of like-minded people with whom you can share a beer in the evening. Most student halls of residence are run by the student union and - unfortunately, unfortunately - have extremely long waiting lists. It means first come, first served. So if you know that you want to go to Munich, apply directly and get it added to the list! Student housing offers a number of advantages, especially when it comes to the price of rent and student interaction. Studying in Munich and the universities in Munich are a dream - it would be a shame if it failed because of the apartment. Ready, set, Munich!

Munich's beautiful surroundings

Finally, something nice...

Yes, the housing prices in Munich can really ruin your mood. But never mind: the pros clearly outweigh the negatives. Especially with a view of the enchanting surrounding area of Munich, which you should definitely take in during the lecture-free period, the afternoon off or when you're getting busy in the summer: whether it's Tegern, Chiem or Aachensee, nearby Salzburg or a trip into the mountains /into the countryside, Munich and its surrounding area have so much to offer that 3-5 years of study are not enough. Munich is a delight, especially in summer. Festivals, street food parades, barbecues on the Isar and/or Tollwood in the city itself, colorful flowers and fresh lakes in the surrounding area - I wouldn't want to miss the University of Munich as a destination and I'm happy to be a Munich student myself. We look forward to seeing you soon in beautiful Minga!

Studying in Munich: A Freid! It's not just the universities that enjoy an excellent reputation - the city itself and its breathtaking surroundings are also definitely worth considering packing your suitcase.
