Are you really excited about starting your studies in Passau and want to get a better idea of the campus map in advance? Get to know your university and its buildings so you can quickly find your way anywhere!
The great thing about the University of Passau is that there is basically a central campus where all the important institutions are located. This means that as a student in Passau you don't have to cycle across the city to get from one lecture hall to the next.
Sports, law and computer science
At the very bottom is the sports center : here is the gym, the sports facility and, in principle, the home of those who study sports in Passau.
This is followed by the IT center , also called the International House. A great glass building that immediately catches the eye. Some chairs of economics, computer science and mathematics are located here. As a lawyer or humanities scholar, you will probably spend less time here.
If you continue walking, you will see a bright building with green windows on your left: the administration building , where many students in Passau always gather to do bureaucratic stuff or get information in the student secretariat.
Next to it is the Juridicum , the “power” center of lawyers, opposite is the FIM, the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics . Both institutions have libraries that specialize in their own subject area.
Audimax, ZMK and ZB
Straight ahead, three buildings catch the eye: The pink one is the Audimax , in which there are two large lecture halls in which every student in Passau, regardless of their subject, will end up sooner or later.
Opposite is the brand new ZMK , the Center for Media and Communication, logically the main playground for MuK students, everything is pretty high-tech in there.
And I should also mention the small brown and white house that is located opposite the ZMK, because every student in Passau wonders what this is all about: only art education students stay here and teach art education there become. Quiz solved!
Then we go up a few steps to a large building whose two parts are connected to each other. On the right is the canteen and the central cafeteria of the university , on the left is the large central library , which is a really good place to study.
WiWi, Philo and Nikolakloster
Straight ahead you can see the WiWi, the Faculty of Economics . There is another larger lecture hall here, where many students from different disciplines listen to their professors.
We continue down and out, under the spray-painted drawbridge and into the Philosophicum . Everyone who studies something related to the humanities in Passau feels at home here.
This faculty also includes the large St. Nicholas Monastery , which can be reached via a bright connecting path - the so-called instantaneous water heater, because in summer it is unbearably hot here, even the toughest student in Passau sweats! Here too there is a library and a cafeteria , as well as a beautiful courtyard surrounded by the monastery. If you go through the archway and across the street, you are directly at the city tower, right in the center!
