Mr. Knoblauch advises...
Dear Students,
You probably come across the request again and again: form networks ! Get connected! Make contacts! For later. For starting your career. For career.
It's always said that you can't start early enough.
It's certainly not a bad idea to take care of a network in good time. Ideally one that you can always rely on. Friends. fellow students. buddies. However, I would like to recommend that you do not search for contacts solely from the perspective of career suitability. Don't constantly ask: "What does this contact, this person, bring me?"
Part of the networking happens in a certain way on the side: during the internships you complete or as part of your part-time work while studying. If you do a good job, people will want to stay in touch with you beyond the end of your employment period.
Make friends with the people you like ! I am convinced that you feel who suits you - not only in your private life, but also professionally. Those who (should) belong to each other find each other.
Make your contacts dependent on your interests. Ask yourself which people are interesting to you because of their character. Who do you find exciting? What do you enjoy with which people and when? This also applies to membership in associations or student organizations. You will only be able to contribute successfully where you also have fun.
If you build your network on these premises, then you will find the right contacts with whom you can move forward together. Because that is also an important element of networking: What do you have to offer others?
