Premier class and game days – The Gillette Uni-Liga Germany has had a highlight summer

Braunschweig is followed by Constance

Around 10,000 players in more than 600 teams played small-field football under the umbrella of the Gillette Uni-Liga Germany this summer semester. At the end of the summer semester, the best teams in the country met in Braunschweig in the premier class , the national final. Gut Kick 2000 from the Konstanz University League made the biggest statement here and won in the final against the Rasurkommando Lackschuh team from the Vechta University League, despite the longest journey for all participants. They are replacing the 2017 champion Ajax Lattenstramm from Braunschweig. The All Beck's from the University League Kaiserslautern came third. Christoph Köchy , founder of the university league and president of the German Small Field Football Association, was enthusiastic about the final event: “It is fantastic how this project has developed. When teams from Rostock or Konstanz invest two days of travel to play one day, then that shows the importance that the premier class now has.”

The captain celebrates on the couch and is looking forward to Athens

“Simply unbelievable!” Maximilian Schätzle , captain of Gut Kick 2000, can hardly believe it: his team has not only won the university league premier class and can now call itself “German champions” for a year, but is also traveling in October the UNILEAGUE WORLD FINALS in Athens to compete internationally with the best small-field student teams. Schätzle, who is suffering from a torn cruciate ligament and was unable to attend the national final in Braunschweig, celebrated winning the title on the couch at home. The fact that this was even possible is thanks to one of the innovations of this university league season, because live streaming has found its way into the Gillette university league .

Gameday tour as a highlight of the summer

The main court of the premier class was broadcast live throughout the day on the Uni-Liga channel on www.sportdeutschland.tv . A service that was well received not only by the Konstanz captain, because the live reporting was not a one-off event: On 10 selected match days, the Gillette Uni-Liga Germany team toured various locations during the season and broadcast the Uni-Liga games live. These so-called game days were extremely well received by the student body. Above all, the resulting highlights , which were published as 60-second videos on the Uni-Liga Germany Facebook page , generated numerous positive reactions online. “Project manager Marc Müller knows: “So many unique things happen in the university league that we wanted to make available to more people this year. Using social networks in particular and relying on more digital content is a logical consequence. We always try to strike a chord with the students.” With the Gameday tour, it seems to have worked in any case.

After summer is before winter

Although there is currently no university league ball rolling, preparations for the next round of games are already in full swing . More and more locations are now offering winter leagues, so the headquarters are already planning one or two new highlights. “We’re currently working on a few things that haven’t existed in the winter university league before,” says Müller. But nothing more will be revealed at this point. In any case, you can be excited about the next highlights of the Gillette University League Germany.
