How to Survive a Festival

It is summer. The time of heat and festivals. But in order to have a nice party weekend in the countryside, there are a few things you need to consider. With these survival tips you are best prepared:

#Camping equipment: tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, flashlight. And decoration! Build a fortress, come up with a name and raise the flag! This means you can quickly find your tent again even if you're drunk.

Extra tip: Take an empty pillowcase with you. Filled with dirty laundry, it becomes an increasingly comfortable pillow from night to night.

#Food: Of course you can spend a lot of money on hand bread and fries. You can also cook your own food cheaply. A small bowl works well as a plate and as a cup. Don't forget cutlery and very important: salt. You go without enough things during a festival. Taste shouldn't be one of them. The classic is canned ravioli. Gnocchi with pesto is also super quick and easy. From a breakfast perspective, spreads are good because you don't have to store them in a cool place. The best thing about the camping stove is the coffee anyway: you don't have to crawl to the next stand with a hangover in the morning before you can give your body energy again with this wonderful elixir of life. Plus, you're guaranteed to make friends among your neighbors.

#Drinking: The classic among the festivals is probably canned beer. Warm and non-carbonated, it lands in your body thirsting for refreshment after a long sunbath. Normally no one would do this voluntarily. At festivals, however, the disgust threshold seems to be lowered a bit anyway.

Attention: It is often not allowed to bring glass bottles onto the festival grounds. But tetra packs are fine. Make a shoulder bag using gaffer tape from your juice carton and mix the vodka right in there. Doesn't get in the way while dancing either!

Extra tip: dry ice. Dry ice is extremely cold. So cold that you can seriously injure yourself. But it has one big advantage. It doesn't melt and cools drinks to refrigerator temperature within two seconds.

#Go to the toilet: Be sure to take toilet paper with you. And a nose clip! And shoes! And think of something nice! And don't touch it more than necessary! Or look at it!

Extra tip: Women can also pee standing up. Make your own Urinella!

#Stay clean: Festivals are dirty. Everything is full of mud, you're sweating from dancing and people are drawing things on your body with Sharpie. Only showering becomes difficult. The water is cold and the line is long. So you have two options:

1. Shower at night. There is little going on at night, there is no shortage of hot water and you can't see how much hair from previous guests is stuck in the shower.
2. Don't shower. Maybe there is a lake, maybe you have wet wipes with you. Maybe there's none of that and you're unlucky.

#Gaffatape and garbage bags: rain cape, jewelry, backpack, flip flops... there's nothing you can't conjure up from these two things. Nothing.

Have fun!

Festivals are wild! With these tips you can make it the best weekend of your life.
