A few weeks before the G20 heads of state and government meet in Turkey, the G(irls)20 Summit will take place on October 5th and 6th, 2015 . The G(irls)20 delegation is a non-profit organization that advocates for the concerns and rights of women. This year's goal is to demand the commitment made by heads of state and government last year: to increase women's labor force participation in the G20 countries by 100 million jobs by 2025.
Main focus of the G(irls)20 Summit 2015
The young women want to focus on three essential aspects in particular:
- Future of jobs: Preparing women for equal and long-term jobs
- Obstacles: What social, cultural or political problems make it difficult to increase women's employment?
- Best Practices: What is the best way to promote female labor force participation?
Composition of the G(irls)20 delegation
The non-profit organization also has a similar composition to the G20: a representative from each G20 country will travel to Istanbul on September 29th, as well as delegates from the EU, the African Union, Pakistan and the MENA region (Middle East & North Africa).
Germany is represented by 20-year-old Anna Meisinger, a young psychology student from Tübingen. She is increasingly involved as a member of the Filia Foundation and in this role advises projects that support young women - a great achievement! You can take a closer look at the other participants and their information on this list .
But there are other speakers and advocates worth listening to: members of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), the World Economic Forum, the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, the FBI, Korn Ferry, IFC, RMK Classic and other private ones as well as non-profit organizations, especially the Sabanci Foundation, which acts as the main partner.
