I recently conducted an exciting interview with the revolutionary company fileee. Yes, you got it right, fileee with three E’s

1. fileee - introduce yourself briefly.
We are a small team from Münster that wants to revolutionize your daily paperwork . We offer a service that allows you to manage your documents and develop apps for iOS, Android and our complementary web application. We - Marius Gerwinn, Arne Osthues, Eike Thies and Johannes Mauerer (no longer with us) - founded fileee GmbH in mid-2011, while we were still studying business informatics at the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster (WWU). We now employ around 15 people.
2. fileee - What can we imagine your company to be and what are your core competencies?
fileee is a startup that offers a document management system (DMS) for private individuals. This kind of thing has been around for companies for a long time. This is relatively new for private individuals. Nevertheless, this is nothing strange, because everyday document life simply looks completely different today than it did ten years ago. Your parents probably file everything in multiple folders. But the file folder alone is no longer enough for most people today : digital invoices from the online shop or telephone providers are in the email inbox, in the customer center or on the hard drive. Paper documents usually lie in a file folder or on the desk. This is chaos that costs time and nerves. That's why a digital assistant like fileee is actually something for everyone.
For a lot of people it has now become completely normal to do a lot of things completely digitally. Others rely on being able to access important data and papers from anywhere.
3. What service do you offer your customers and what is your unique selling point?
fileee is your personal assistant designed to make all your paperwork as easy as possible.
With fileee you can store your documents in one place and handle all your paperwork related tasks . It doesn’t matter whether the documents are paper or digital.
You can scan receipts and paper receipts with the fileee apps. You can upload digital invoices from the online shop and telephone provider to fileee or set up an automatic email link. This means you have everything with you at all times and can respond to inquiries etc. in a timely manner, regardless of your location. You can exchange documents with family members or submit certificates to authorities. Because you have everything in one place, nothing gets lost.
But fileee is more than just a scanning app and the modern version of the file folder. fileee - it's like a personal assistant for your private paperwork. fileee shows you important document information, reminds you of payment or notice periods and allows you to perform a full-text search.
4. What does a typical working day look like at fileee?
Our product is incredibly complex. That's why very different people work in different areas at fileee and the working days can look very different. With our small team we cover a lot of areas. We develop apps on different platforms, offer AI processes and services such as our scanning service and are now also developing hardware with the fileeeBox . We carry out usability tests with volunteer testers and carry out editorial work as part of our support and marketing. We're having so much fun with it all.

5. What gave you the idea to develop fileee?
Even if you don't have much to do with paperwork as a student, this is where many come into contact with it for the first time. For health insurance , child benefit and Bafög applications, certificates and forms must be exchanged between you and your parents across the distance. In the shared apartment, expenses for telephone, shopping and public utilities must be accounted for. This can quickly become annoying and time-consuming. If receipts or documents are lost, it can cause trouble. That's what happened to us during our studies. The idea for fileee came to us in the summer of 2010 in a seminar at the University of Münster. With fileee we want to revolutionize the way you do paperwork and make the everyday work you do with it as easy as possible.
