“IT is also a people business,” explains Tina Marx, Head of Sales AWS Business Group, Arvato Systems. “Although my field of activity is technically oriented, communication skills and intuition are two of the most important qualities for my job. My job is to connect people with technology.”
A pure presentation of the product portfolio is not the focus when advising new customers - at Arvato Systems it is more about understanding the respective industry and finding the optimal solution for the company: “I see myself as a discoverer, translator and implementer of customer wishes. I listen and filter out the relevant information.” Based on the respective business requirements, an individual concept for translation into IT solutions is developed.
As a global IT specialist, Arvato Systems focuses on solutions that support the digital transformation of its customers in the retail, media and utilities sectors.
In addition to understanding what customers want, Marx emphasizes that a well-developed network in all areas of the company is extremely important: “With the help of the network that I have built up over the years, I can develop the best solution for customers in my current position and ensure that this can also be implemented.”
Tina Marx's career path at Arvato Systems began early: while she was studying International Business Studies, she worked as a working student at the company headquarters in Gütersloh. Her entry into the profession shows that quick decision-making processes are not uncommon at Arvato Systems.

"Although my field of activity is more technically oriented, communication skills and intuition are two of the most important qualities for my job. My job is to connect people with technology."
For her diploma thesis, she conducted interviews at locations in the USA and China. While still on the taxi ride in Shanghai, she was offered the position of assistant to the management.
In the years that followed, she was able to get to know a wide variety of areas of the organization - from product and portfolio management to strategic planning with her first team and offshoring projects in India and China. When she went on parental leave for a year in 2016, it was already clear that she would not be able to return to her old position due to restructuring. “There were very open and transparent discussions and I was offered various options. It was a good feeling to know beforehand that I would be able to take on responsible issues as a manager even after parental leave.”
She decided to build the Sales AWS Cloud division. “We are expanding the portfolio, implementing processes, acquiring new customers and supporting them in their digital transformation. Here I can contribute my experience from the outsourcing business as well as contribute to the strategically relevant and future-oriented topics of Arvato Systems.” What she particularly appreciates about her current position is the sales component and the associated customer proximity. She has her employer to thank for the fact that she can draw this insight from her previous career path: “If you are open-minded as an employee at Arvato Systems, you have the chance to help shape many issues within the organization. Here it is not necessary to change companies or jobs in order to grow with new challenges.”
