The idea of the patchwork blanket comes from the Viennese girls, and you can find many other beautiful things in their blog.
You need this:
- T-shirts
- (Fabric) scissors
- Painter's chalk
- pin
- Basting thread + needle
- Flowing ceiling
- sewing machine
To begin with, you should think about which shirts you want to use and, above all, in which order you want to sew them together - it's best to just test them out and see which ones go together best in terms of color.
Next, take the fleece blanket and place the shirts on it so you can see how much space you have.
Cutting shirts: Separate the front from the back - cut away the sleeves. You should end up with rectangles with about 2 to 3 cm left on all sides, then the shirts will be sewn together.
Then you can start putting the T-shirts together with pins. To do this, lay the T-shirts face down so it's easier to pin the sides together.
Now you can staple the shirts together - roughly sew them together with basting thread (which will be removed later).
Sewing together: Use the straight style for the outer seam and the zigzag style for the inner seam. All shirts are sewn together.
Now the majority is done and all that remains is to sew the T-shirts onto the fleece ceiling. This works according to the same principle: Allow for a margin of 2 to 3 cm, pin it together, see if it is halfway straight, then pin it together and sew it together.
At the end the tacking thread has to be removed again.
