The artist and philosopher Alex Arteaga is the new Einstein Junior Fellow at the Einstein Foundation Berlin
Press release
The artist and philosopher Alex Arteaga is the new Einstein Junior Fellow. As the Einstein Foundation Berlin announced yesterday, it is supporting two more excellent young scientists. One of them is Alex Arteaga, who works at the UdK Berlin, and an Einstein International Postdoctoral Fellowship goes to the biochemist Florian Richter. Both researchers will begin their projects in the second half of the year.
The “architecture of embodiment” is the research topic of new Einstein Junior Fellow Alex Arteaga. At the UdK Berlin, the artist and philosopher will examine the influence of a built environment on embodiment - i.e. the process in which people create the world and at the same time themselves as subjects through interaction with their environment. The multi-talented Spaniard initially studied music and architecture in Barcelona and Berlin. He then received his doctorate in philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin. “Alex Arteaga has the ability to connect seemingly isolated subject areas and develop completely new ideas from them,” says Prof. Martin Supper, head of the Sound Studies master’s program at the UdK Berlin Career College.
Alex Arteaga will carry out his research within the “Auditory Architecture Research Unit” in collaboration with the Institute for Theory and History of Design. The research unit is affiliated with the Sound Studies master's program.
With theEinstein Junior Fellow program, the Einstein Foundation Berlin supports excellent young scientists in Berlin. In addition to the scientist's position, the Einstein Foundation provides up to 100,000 euros for personnel and material resources.
