Dear 2015, since your days are numbered, I would like to quickly say a few things to you. First of all, thank you very much for being one of the lucky people who was able to stay healthy and have my loved ones around me. I would also like to thank you that I was able to successfully complete my medical studies, am now officially a doctor and have the honor of helping my fellow human beings.
But, dear year 2015, please tell your friend 2016 to support humanity in creating peace. There has been simply too much death, blood and terror recently, especially in the Middle East. Oh, and I also have a personal wish: In 2016, please ask me to specialize in cosmetic dentistry so that I can bring more radiant smiles into the world. Thanks!

2015 was a really good year for me: I passed most of the exams at university without any problems and met a lot of interesting people along the way. In my personal life, my brother's wedding was by far the biggest event of the year; especially because I was allowed to be his best man.
Next year I will hopefully start my doctorate. Apart from that, I actually only have one wish for 2016: that Poland wins the European Football Championship!

Personally and professionally, 2015 was a great year for me because I had the opportunity to do a great internship in Paris. Otherwise, like many others, I was primarily concerned with the current refugee situation this year. Since this topic has become so present, I have been thinking a lot about what kind of society I would like to live in.
In the next summer semester I will write my master's thesis and thus finish my studies. I have now studied European Studies, Political Science and International Relations for five years and have dealt a lot with social challenges. I hope that in 2016 I can finally apply this theoretical knowledge and find a job with which I can make society a little better.

I've had a pretty successful year of study: after four years, I finally completed all of my courses and have now started writing my bachelor's thesis. Things were going great in my relationship too. By far the saddest moment of 2015 was the death of my grandfather in the summer; I flew to my home country of Finland specifically to be able to attend his funeral.
2016 will be a year full of changes for me, as I'm moving to Sweden to live with my girlfriend. Get out of the big city of Berlin and into tranquil Gothenburg. Of course I'm sad to leave many good friends behind in Berlin, but I believe that new doors will also open.
Heather Dunbar , English Literature and German – Simon Fraser University in Burnaby – Canada
The first eight months of this year were a time of personal development for me: I completed a semester abroad in Germany and lived abroad for a long period of time for the first time in my life. I learned a lot of things there about myself, but also about the world in general, that I hope I won't forget for the rest of my life.
We recently elected a new Parliament in Canada and I will be paying particular attention next year to see how the new Prime Minister performs in office. Since I am nearing the end of my studies, I will also be looking for potential jobs. I love languages and enjoy working with people, so I could easily imagine a position as an English teacher or as an editor. But whatever the future holds, I think the most important thing is not to get too attached to any one thing.

Globally, 2015 was a year full of ups and downs. On the one hand there was the dramatic refugee situation in Syria, but on the other hand there were also positive moments such as the UN action plan approved in the summer, which is intended to end extreme poverty in the world by 2030. I am very curious to see how the individual countries will implement the sustainability goals formulated there. 2016 will be an interesting year in which we will see to what extent countries will come together to fight global poverty and reduce CO2 emissions to such an extent that the earth remains a safe planet in the future.
A lot also changed in my life in 2015: I returned to Europe from my home country, the USA, to do my master's degree in Denmark and Austria. I am very pleased that next year I will be able to work on an exciting project that deals with global climate change and that I will continue to live in Denmark - a country that has become a pioneer in sustainability and quality of life.
