After THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR, the most successful film in the series to date, the creator of this worldwide successful phenomenon James DeMonaco (writer and director of THE PURGE, THE PURGE: ANARCHY and THE PURGE: ELECTION YEAR) returns. This year we finally learn how it all began and the annual twelve hours of lawlessness started as a simple social experiment. The story
The USA in the not too distant future: In order to keep the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the “New Founding Fathers of America” put a daring sociological theory into practice. For a single night, all acts of violence go unpunished. The aim is to offer the frustrated population an outlet for their pent-up aggression. But what initially begins as a fairly harmless experiment in New York's Staten Island district spirals out of control and soon spreads like wildfire across the nation when the oppressed population becomes aware that the government is not following the rules of the lawless night holds.
