The story
California in the 1930s: Jim Nolan, son of an American working class family, no longer wants to put up with the oppression of the all-powerful landowners. As spokesman for apple orchard workers in Torgas Valley, he and veteran labor leader Mac McLeod are tasked with organizing a strike against orchard owners who cut wages shortly before the harvest began. However, the two quickly realize that, as newcomers to the orchard, they are dependent on the support of the established workers. In the attempt to provoke a strike, the vigilante militia of the landowners does not prove to be the only obstacle, because the families who rely on work also have to be convinced. Jim and Mac first have to convert their distrust into understanding and support for the fight so that the revolt can ignite...
