Going to New York Fashion Week and seeing the stars up close: That has always been my big dream. Through an internship at the New York agency 'Nouveau-PR' in SoHo, it finally came true. I spent three months in New York and experienced an exciting time working with designers, stylists, journalists and stars. I actually live in Berlin and study PR and communications management at the European Media and Business Academy (EMBA). Practical relevance is very important at the EMBA and therefore the internship in the fifth semester is an integral part of the bachelor's degree. It was clear to me from the start that I wanted to spend this time abroad.
In the hallowed halls of “Vogue”
From the very beginning I was right in the middle of the fashion world: I was able to help organize our designers' Fashion Week shows, directly
Collaborate with designers and journalists and work with the stylists to create suitable looks for various magazines such as Vogue,
Select InStyle and Interview Magazines from our showroom. I also got a great insight into fashion journalism and was even in the building of the legendary magazine 'Vogue'. Unfortunately, I didn't meet Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour in the hallway...
A chat with Lindsay Lohan
Of course, with a job like this you always meet well-known stars. I was often allowed to select items of clothing for actors, musicians or other celebrities from the showroom for the stylists. I was also responsible for 'running errands' (small errands). Behind this is a kind of styling errand for stars. For example, I brought a dress to Lindsay Lohan for an evening event in her loft. When I picked up the 'samples' there, there was even a short, friendly conversation. If you know the right locations, you will also regularly meet stars while partying in New York. We always went to the so-called 'Lavo brunch' on Saturdays. Famous guests often go there and just sit among the 'normal people'.
Conclusion: better English and lots of new friends.
