1. Olivia Cough
University: Harvard University in Cambridge, USA
Study program: Visual and Environmental Studies (PhD student)
Every morning my path takes me through a quiet residential area. I always walk alone and look at people's dogs and the architecture of the neighborhood. When I arrive on campus, I first buy a cappuccino in the student café. After walking through the law school, past the Josep Lluís Sert Science Center and the newly renovated Renzo Piano Museum, I reach my institute, which, by the way, is the only building in the United States designed by the famous Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier was built. I love walking under the arched ramp and looking at the current cinema posters.
2. Camille Dessaigne
University: Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France
Course of study: International Hotel and Restaurant Management
I take the subway to university and of course I see a lot of people every time. Since I have to drive 20 minutes, I have enough time to look at them closely and imagine what kind of life they lead, what kind of job they have and what their problems are. I love this little game. When I get off the train, I'm immediately hit by the typical smell of a French bakery and if I'm not in a hurry, I can't resist and buy a croissant or a pain au chocolat there. Vive la France! And especially Lyon, the capital of gastronomy!

University: University of Herat in Herat, Afghanistan
Course of study: German literature
To get to university, I ride a rickshaw every morning, which is a kind of large transport bike. It costs 1,500 Afghani (approx. 20 euros) a month, but it means I'm safe from attacks in the rickshaw. A lot is changing at my university: the teaching methods are getting better, we now have a great library and every institute has access to free internet. I have a good feeling.
4. Chen Weigang
University: National Taipei University of Education in Taipei, Taiwan
Course of study: Language and creative writing
Since the campus is only ten minutes from my apartment, I always have enough time for a cup of coffee in the morning before I leave the house. Afterwards I take a leisurely bike ride through the narrow streets, soak up some sun and enjoy the beauty of Taipei's lively morning hours. Unfortunately, there are not bike paths everywhere in Taipei. Then you have to avoid the many mopeds and at the same time watch out for pedestrians. In short: My journey to university is an adventure in a great setting.
5. Max Uusitalo
University: Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland
Course of study: Economics
I live in a student dormitory in East Helsinki. Most of the time I walk to the metro station, which is 300 meters from my apartment, while still half asleep. The journey to downtown Helsinki takes approximately 25 minutes. I get off in the center and walk to the university from there. I then have breakfast there, read the football news and try in every way possible to delay the inevitable start of the day.
6. Olga Pulika and Ksenia Pisareva
University: Novosibirsk State Technical University in Novosibirsk, Russia
Course of study: Philology
Until recently we lived in a student dormitory, now we have our own apartment where we live together with Ksenia's husband. We are now in our last semester and fortunately we only have lectures and seminars four times a week. The apartment is not far from the university, it takes us about 15 minutes on foot. On the way we walk through a pretty little avenue and past many flower shops. Many of our fellow students have to take the metro or bus to university, but we can always sleep until ten o'clock.
7) Iness Hamuchenje
University: University of Zambia in Lusaka, Zambia
Course of study: Educational Sciences
I live in the student dormitory, which is conveniently located directly on the campus of my university. Every now and then I also spend the night in my aunt's apartment, especially when I don't have anything left to eat in the dorm. Then I have to get up at six o'clock and leave the house at seven to take a taxi to university. It takes me about 45 minutes to get to university. Most of the time I team up with my friends and we share the travel money.
8. Jose Luis Ruiz Monroy
University: National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico
Course of study: Latin American Studies
I live outside of Mexico City, so I have a pretty long commute to university, it takes about an hour and a half. That's why I have to get up at six in the morning five days a week. First I take the Mexibus, which is the public transport in our state. Then I take the subway, where I have to change once. I finally walk the last stretch from the metro station to the university.
