With her feature film LIGHT, the Austrian director Barbara Albert (THE LIVING, FALLING, BAD CELLS) tells a parable about the power of music during Mozart's time in Vienna. Elaborately staged and with great empathy, the historical drama describes the search for one's own identity between bright spots and dark sides, between appearance and reality, between seeing and being seen. The story

Vienna 1777. The 18-year-old Maria Theresia “Resi” Paradis, who went blind at an early age, is known in Viennese society as a piano prodigy. After countless medical errors, her ambitious parents entrust her to the controversial doctor Franz Anton Mesmer because of his innovative methods. Resi slowly begins to feel freedom for the first time in her life in the Mesmers' open house, between rococo and enlightenment, in the circle of wondrous patients and the maid Agnes. When Resi begins to perceive images as a result of the treatment, she notices with horror that her musical virtuosity is being lost...
