The story
Rhiannon is 16 and has to deal with the everyday adversities of teenage life: heartbreak, insecurity, emotional chaos. But then the girl falls in love with a mysterious soul named “A”, who accidentally ends up in the body of her boyfriend Justin. “A” inhabits a different 16-year-old boy or girl's body every day, making it very difficult for Rhiannon to find her again. But the two feel a unique connection to each other and try with all their might not to lose each other. The stronger their love for each other grows, the more they feel the immediate challenge that “A”'s daily body change brings. So their unique love presents Rhiannon and “A” with one of the most difficult decisions they have ever had to make in their lives.
Hollywood's faces of tomorrow - the stars from ULTIMATELY THE UNIVERSE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT WE
With ULTIMATELY WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE UNIVERSE, David Levithan has created a slightly different but very touching romance novel that has been celebrated worldwide. Various talented young actors were recruited for the film adaptation, which will finally be released in German cinemas on May 31st, to bring the emotional story to the big screen. For the young actors Angourie Rice, Justice Smith, Owen Teague and Colin Ford, the literary adaptation is a big step towards Hollywood.
Angourie Rice plays Rhiannon
The young Australian Angourie Rice is well on her way to a remarkable career. She has already played alongside global stars such as Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling. Like many actors, Rice began her career with short films and commercials. But at the age of 12 she was in front of the camera in Australia for her first film “These Final Hours”. Roles in other Australian productions followed, but Hollywood soon became aware of Rice and she was cast in the role of Ryan Gosling's daughter in the strange crime comedy "The Nice Guys". She then appeared in front of the camera for Sophia Coppola for the critics' favorite “The Beguiled”.
Justice Smith as Justin
Justice Smith shines in the role of Rhiannon's not-so-dream boyfriend Justin. He graduated from the Orange School of Arts in 2013 with a degree in acting and was crowned one of the top 1.3% of young actors nationwide by the National Young Arts Foundation. Smith has already gained experience on the theater stage in the off-Broadway production “Yen”, on television in the Netflix series “The Get Down” and on the big screen in the novel adaptation “Margo's Traces” alongside Cara Delevigne and Nat Wolff. In addition to ULTIMATELY WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE UNIVERSE, Smith can also be seen in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom this summer.
Owen Teague as Alexander
At just 19 years old, Owen Teague can also look back on many film and television productions. He is best known for his outstanding performance as Nolan in the Netflix series “Bloodline”, for which he starred in front of the camera for 2 years. Last year he impressed as Patrick Hockstetter in the successful remake of Stephen King's “It”. This summer, Owen Teague shows off his more romantic side in the role of Alexander in ULTIMATELY THE UNIVERSE DOESN'T CARE.
Colin Ford as Xavier
Even at the tender age of 6, you could admire Colin Ford on the big screen in “Sweet Home Alabama – Love in a Detour”. Since then, Ford has appeared in various television productions, including the hit series “Supernatural” and “Under The Dome”. Colin Ford has just finished filming the independent production “War with Grandpa” alongside none other than Robert De Niro and is currently in front of the camera alongside Brie Larson for “Captain Marvel”, the latest production from Marvel.
Lucas Jade Zumann as Nathan
At just 17 years old, Chicago native Lucas Jade Zumann can already boast great projects in his young career. His best-known roles include the portrayal of Milo in “Sinister 2,” a horror film, and the punky teenager Jamie in “Century Women,” which was released in German cinemas just last year. He was also able to gain his first experience as a series actor in “Sense8” and “Chigaco Fire”. Now he was back in front of the camera as Nathan in ULTIMATELY THE UNIVERSE DOESN'T CARE.
