What's the matter?
Danish director Thomas Vinterberg (THE FESTIVAL, THE HUNT) takes you to 19th century England, where the beautiful Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan) turns the heads of three men with her unconventional manner. The three rivals couldn't be more different and leave Bathsheba spoiled for choice.
She rejects the marriage proposals of the attractive shepherd Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts) and the wealthy landowner William Boldwood (Michael Sheen) because she has her eye on the self-confident officer Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge). But with him she goes into dangerous territory. Who will finally win Bathsheba's heart?
ON THE GREEN EDGE OF THE WORLD is based on the most famous novel by the British writer Thomas Hardy from 1874 and was filmed in the beautiful setting of England.
