The heartwarming documentary KEDI – OF CATS AND PEOPLE will soon be coming to German cinemas. The directorial work by Ceyda Torun, which was already named “Best Family Film” at the Sidewalk Film Festival, will be released in cinemas on August 10th, just in time for World Cat Day (August 8th). The story
Documentary about the lives of the numerous wild cats in Istanbul and about the people who look after them: There have been thousands of cats in the city since the days of the Ottoman Empire and director Ceyda Torun shows that the cute animals are still an essential are part of urban life and live side by side with the people here, peacefully and for mutual benefit. “They absorb all your negative energy,” a shoe salesman says of the cats. In her documentary, Torun lets the two-legged residents of Istanbul have their say - and introduces seven of the cute animals: Sarı, Bengü, Psikopat, Deniz, Aslan Parçası, Duman and Gamsız. Torun also follows these seven cats through the streets of Istanbul, through small alleys, across harbors and markets and even over the roofs of the metropolis on the Bosphorus.
