Masters at 13
Sushma Verma is a child prodigy: she graduated from high school at the age of seven and received her bachelor's degree six years later. She recently started her microbiology master's degree at just 13 years old. The high-flyer comes from more than humble backgrounds: she lives with her parents and three siblings in a small apartment in Lucknow, northern India; The father earns just 2.60 euros per day in construction. In order to pay his daughter's tuition fees, he had to sell his land. Her brother shows that these sacrifices pay off. He graduated at the age of nine and was India's youngest computer scientist at the age of 14. Sushma's goal for the future: a doctorate.
