The touching portrait illuminates the life of the legendary jazz musician during the German occupation in Paris. On the occasion of the cinema release on October 26th, we are giving away two free tickets ! All you have to do is answer the following competition question in the comment field:

What is the name of the director of DJANGO – A LIFE FOR MUSIC?

The story

France, 1943. The gifted jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt (Reda Kateb) is at the peak of his success. He plays in sold-out halls every evening and inspires the audience with his gypsy swing, music full of joie de vivre and humor that even the German occupiers cannot escape. While other Sinti are persecuted throughout Europe, Django can feel safe due to his popularity - until the National Socialists want to send him on tour to Germany. Django refuses. His Parisian lover helps him go into hiding at the Swiss border with his pregnant wife and mother. Here he meets members of his extended family who are also on the run. He wants to reach Switzerland via Lake Geneva, but the Nazis are close on his heels.

In his directorial debut, Étienne Comar portrays an unconventional artist and free spirit whose life was as improvised as his music. Faced with the question of whether he would allow his art to be used politically, he had to make an existential decision. Reda Kateb shines in the role of the exceptional artist alongside César winner Cécile de France.

The competition has ended and the winners will receive an email from us. If nothing happens this time, the next competition is already waiting for you.
