The story

Switzerland, 1971: Nora is a young housewife and mother who lives with her husband, two sons and grumpy father-in-law in a tranquil village in Appenzell. There is little trace of the social upheavals of the '68 movement here. However, the village and family order begins to shake when Nora begins to campaign for women's suffrage, which the men are supposed to vote on. The other women are also infected by their political ambitions and rehearse the uprising together. The demure village ladies soon fight courageously not only for their social equality, but also against outdated sexual morals. But in the charged atmosphere, Nora's family and the entire community threaten to collapse.
