Who poses the greatest threat to Ant-Man and The Wasp?
The story
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing with a visually stunning and action-packed adventure around the former con artist Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), who, thanks to his Ant-Man suit, has the unique ability to grow gigantic or shrink very, very small. Immediately after the events of The First Avenger: Civil War, he is joined by Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) asked for help in an urgent new mission. Scott returns to the suit and must learn to fight as a team with his brilliant colleague The Wasp in order to uncover secrets from the past.
Whether small, criminal or incredibly intelligent - the team stands together in the fight against Ghost!
The countdown to the action spectacle of what is probably the smallest and most brilliant superhero team is on! Exactly three months after the globally acclaimed superhero blockbuster “Avengers: Infinity War,” ANT-MAN AND THE WASP hits theaters. In addition to the title hero and his well-known colleagues, we have also taken a closer look at the new faces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for you.
Big superhero in mini format,
This is Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), who, beyond his missions for the Avengers, tries to lead a completely normal life with his daughter. After the ex-convict most recently caused a stir as Ant-Man in “The First Avenger: Civil War”, he is once again embarking on a daring mission with heart and humor - this time in a team with The Wasp. Although things get dangerously worse for Scott in ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, it was important to Paul Rudd to maintain Scott's characteristic lightheartedness: "I think it's a lot of fun for audiences to see someone like Scott Lang get into this crazy stuff Adventure falls.”
Focused and determined
is Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), who has prepared intensively for her superhero role as The Wasp. Now she's forming a team with Scott Lang's Ant-Man, who she was initially skeptical about. “Hope lives to be The Wasp, but she is definitely hurt and upset that Scott went on the mission to Berlin without her,” notes Evangeline Lilly. But with the goal in mind of finding her mother and reuniting the family, the brilliant quantum physicist embarks on her first mission with Ant-Man as the winged superhero The Wasp - even though she doesn't actually want to do it yet feels ready.
Inventor of the Pym Particle, founder of Pym Technologies and the first Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe –
Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) is a multi-talented and influential scientist, but also prone to making morally questionable decisions. When he learns that Scott Lang survived his trip to the quantum plane, he gains hope that his beloved wife is still alive. Together with his daughter Hope, he does everything he can to find Janet! Michael Douglas appreciates the experience, Dr. Playing Hank Pym, very: “Pretty much my entire career has been contemporary comedies and dramas, so it's a bit of a rush to immerse yourself in this other world where anything goes. I really enjoyed that.”
A strong fighter
is Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), who has managed to survive in the subatomic quantum level. Michelle Pfeiffer finds Janet's tireless fighting spirit particularly impressive: “It's unbelievable. And the message this sends to women of all ages and all walks of life is 'we are strong, we are independent, we are capable and important parts of society'. I love shouting this message to the world.” The accomplished scientist, the first person to slip into The Wasp's suit and a founding member of the Avengers, saved millions of lives when she defused a missile heading straight for the United States of America. She disappeared into the quantum level and has been untraceable since that day.
Probably the biggest threat to Ant-Man and The Wasp
is the elusive terrorist Ghost / Ava (Hannah John-Kamen). When she learns that Hank is developing technology to locate Janet in the quantum plane, she firmly believes that this technological achievement can help free her from her intangible world. She fights against Hank, Hope and Scott with all she has to do to get Hank's invention. Hannah John-Kamen was thrilled by the complexity of her role: “This character has so many layers. Her background is not black and white, it is not about world domination or good and evil. I loved her vulnerability and felt a real connection to Ava.”
Characterized by the boiling up of old hostilities
is the relationship between Hank and his former colleague Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne). What immediately impressed Laurence Fishburne about Bill Foster “was that he was a scientist himself, a contemporary of Hank Pym with the same intelligence and curiosity.” However, different approaches to joint research divided the two scientists back then and also 30 years later the two are irreconcilable towards each other. Because Bill pursues his own goals...
