Either you don't have the money or you don't have the time to travel. Having both at the same time rarely happens. During your studies you have the time to travel. At least it's relatively easy to clear your own schedule: term papers, exams and seminars can be postponed for a semester, you can give up your student assistant job and sublet your shared room. So there is time to travel, but often not the money. We'll tell you here how your next trip can be a success even with little money:
Lower your demands!
You don't have to stay in a hotel. A hostel or a couch with strange friends works too. The absolute advantage is that you can meet other globetrotters and locals so quickly and easily. And you can be sure that you will make so many more memories that you will look back on fondly for the rest of your life. It also saves a lot of money on your travel budget.
Get your hands dirty!
Before you leave, find out in which countries you can easily earn a few extra euros during your trip. Keyword “Work & Travel”. Then simply ask at your hostel, a café or somewhere else whether you can lend a hand in exchange for an overnight stay or a meal.
Keep your toads together!
It is also helpful if your travel budget includes one or two euros in advance. So look for a part-time job during the semester and save as much money as possible. It is helpful to set up an account for this purpose and leave the card and access data with parents or friends so that you are not so easily tempted to spend your hard-earned travel money in everyday life.
Prepare yourself!
With a little preparation you can save a lot of money. Look around in good time for savings offers on buses, trains and planes and search the internet for travel vouchers in advance. You should also get an international student card , because you also get attractive discounts as a student in many other countries.
Let yourself drift...
...have fun and don't just think about the money!
