The story
In 1973, 16-year-old Paul (Charlie Plummer), grandson of billionaire oil magnate J. Paul Getty (Christopher Plummer), is kidnapped by the mafia in Rome. The kidnappers demand a ransom of $17 million, but the richest man in the world doesn't even think about paying. The old curmudgeon thinks the whole thing is a set-up and fears imitators - after all, he has 13 other grandchildren. Only Paul's desperate mother Gail (Michelle Williams) continues to fight for her son's life.
